I first took Zena Rommett’s Floor-Barre™ class in 1990 on a visit to NYC from Boston. I had injured my back and the discovery of Zena’s technique was an incredible gift that allowed me to continue with creative work in dance that included studying in London and choreographing and teaching in the Boston area.
Later, when Zena began her certification courses for Floor-Barre™, I had the great privilege of studying with Zena. The joy of working with her went beyond the insights she gave about her technique. Zena had an incredible ability to make each of her students experience the warmth of her individual care and attention. To this day, I think of the artistic insights that Zena conveyed in those magical times in the studio and am struck by the richness of the work that she has left us.
This technique works beautifully for so many: the serious dance student, those who wish to come back to dance after many years, and those who have always dreamed of learning to dance.
